Senior Data Modeller - Assistant Manager
Role Summary & Role Description
Chief Data Office (CDO) - Global Technology Solutions at State Street has a mandate to govern and report on data health across the enterprise. CDO is rolling out multiple initiatives and operating model changes to execute these initiatives and generate value for our internal and external clients.
We are looking for qualified candidates with experience primarily focused on data modeling, while delivering insights and storyboards through analytic platforms. The candidate should also have deep experience in creating operational and analytical data models from various data sources, formats and data structures.
Work you'll do:
• Work with business and application/solution teams to implement data strategies. Design and Develop Conceptual, logical data models, dimensional models/Star Schemas [based on Inmon/Kimbal principles], physical data models
• Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models.
• Analyze a variety of data sources/formats, document required transformations and controls on the data elements to be fit for analytical data lakehouses or data warehouses
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.
• Proactively communicate with data management team members, business users and technical team along the project lifecycle , understanding the impacts that may have on downstream reports, analytical models and data product/process deliverables
• Deliver in complex deadline-oriented environment and multi-task on multiple projects concurrently with little supervision. Core/Must have skills
• Good knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (Erwin or Toadmodeller or others). 3+ years of hands-on experience in relational, dimensional modelling.
• Data Requirements Analysis from structured and unstructured data sources
• SQL experience and advanced database design, querying, stored procedures, views, joins, performance management, etc.
• Should have in depth understanding of different types of Dimensions and facts. Should be well versed with Data modeling principles including Conceptual, logical and Physical model creation
• Should have worked on the implementation of RDBMS, operational data store (ODS), data warehouse, data lakes, lake house on target platforms
• Good experience in design and development of Data Engineering (ETL/ELT) pipelines
Good to have skills
• Knowledge on Cloud Datawarehousing, specifically AWS, Databricks
• Experience in ETL/ELT development using Pyspark, SparkSQL
