Description
The purpose of this role is to deliver practical employee relations solutions to drive compliance, risk reduction and positive employee/business outcomes by providing strategy, advice, education and coaching on a broad range of employee relations and industrial relations matters across the business.
The role does this by partnering with other teams within People and Culture (including HR Business Partners, People Services, Rewards, Talent Acquisition) or leaders within the business to achieve positive ER outcomes, as well as building centralised processes and systems to enable scalable solutions to be retained in the organisation’s memory.
The role also may vary from time to time, lead advocacy services up to and including conciliation for employment related matters in industrial tribunals (such as unfair dismissals, general protections, and stop bullying claims), including disputes in the Fair Work Commission.
The role primarily supports all business units within the portfolio and also provides support (to a lesser extent) to its subsidiary companies.
This role reports to the Senior Director and will contribute to broader thought leadership in all ER/IR strategy and activities, including IR reforms, application of industrial instruments and employment related legislation, bargaining strategy and negotiations.
Profile
Proven experience within an ER specialist or ER Lawyer role and/or HR operational experience in a fast-paced environment with proven employee relations experience.
Experience of managing medium-high risk ER cases to conclusion.
Good understanding and application of Fair Works and recent IR/ER Reform.
Strong communication and listening skills, being comfortable in coaching, advising, and influencing managers dealing with ER issues.
Ability to assess risks and make fair decisions that meet the needs of the business.
Ability to influence management decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to quickly develop a rapport and strong working relationships across all levels.
Good commercial understanding and a genuine interest about the business.
