Alliance Resource Group is partnered with a growth-oriented, multi-entity organization in the search for a Vice President of Finance. This role serves as a strategic and operational leader responsible for the full finance function, partnering directly with the CEO and executive team to drive performance, ensure compliance, manage risk, and build scalable infrastructure to support continued growth.
This is a true seat-at-the-table finance leadership opportunity reporting directly to the CEO, with broad ownership across strategy, operations, accounting, and capital. The VP of Finance will shape the financial infrastructure of a multi-entity business in a growth phase, with meaningful influence on systems, team development, and long-term direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead financial strategy, planning, and forecasting to support long-term growth and profitability across multiple entities, providing scenario planning, investment analysis, and risk assessment to executive leadership.
• Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning; analyze performance against budget, deliver actionable insights on margins and cost control, and produce standardized reporting packages for leadership.
• Ensure accurate, timely GAAP-compliant financial statements across all entities; manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, multi-subsidiary consolidations, and maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness.
• Manage cash flow planning, liquidity, and working capital; oversee banking relationships, covenant compliance, capital planning, and funding strategies including financing, leasing, and capital expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; oversee multi-state sales tax processes and coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, tax advisors, and insurance providers to identify and mitigate financial and operational risk.
• Drive operational finance and process improvement initiatives, including ERP optimization, system integrations, and enhanced reporting on job costing, project profitability, and revenue recognition.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team; oversee hiring, performance management, and departmental structure while building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Deliver executive-level reporting, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis on revenue, margins, cost drivers, commission structures, and sales performance to support strategic decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including leadership roles
• Experience managing multi-entity or multi-location organizations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
• Proven track record leading financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis
• Demonstrated leadership and team development experience
• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, reporting, and data analysis
Preferred:
• CPA certification or MBA
• Prior experience in a high-growth, multi-entity environment
• Background supporting operational finance functions such as job costing and project profitability
SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
• ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
• Sales tax automation platforms (Avalara or comparable)
• Advanced Excel and BI/reporting tools

Key Responsibilities
• Gain a foundational understanding of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) accounting.
• Assist in preparing journal entries (JE) and reconciling accounts as assigned.
• Ensure all vendor names are updated and accurately maintained in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
• Participate in special projects as assigned by the Accounting team.
• Prepare weekly progress updates, culminating in a final presentation.
What We’re Looking For
• Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
