Senior Labour Relations Advisor

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Dunsmuir 10

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00

Position Highlights
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Labour Relations Advisor who thrives on challenges and making a real
difference. Your strategic mindset will play a crucial role in shaping our organizational culture and ensuring compliance.
Your expert advice will offer invaluable guidance in navigating complex issues with finesse and professionalism. Your
exceptional communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across our organization
and will be crucial in fostering positive labour relations with our unions.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Director, Labour Relations, you will:

Provide expert guidance and advice to management and HR professionals on all aspects of collective agreement and
labour relations matters, such as organizational and workforce changes, investigations, disciplinary decisions, grievances,
human rights cases, accommodations and respectful workplace matters.

Lead the resolution of complex labour relations issues and grievances by conducting thorough research and analysis, and
working towards creative and effective solutions that align with our business priorities and drive BC Hydro’s strategic goals
forward.

Play a pivotal role in the development of collective bargaining strategies and plans, and actively contribute to the outcome
of successful negotiations.

Build and maintain positive relationships with union representatives, fostering an environment of mutual respect and
cooperation.

Proactively engage with management, HR colleagues and unions to facilitate consultation and collaboration on workplace
issues and initiatives that impact our workforce, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.

Provide coaching and mentoring to managers and HR professionals, empowering them to handle labour relations matters
effectively.

Develop, implement, and oversee workplace policies, processes and governance frameworks, such as the ******* and
Drug Policy, Accommodation Process, and Attendance Support Program.

Represent BC Hydro at settlement conferences, mediations, and third-party hearings, advocating for our organization’s
best interests.
What you bring

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional with:

A university degree in business administration, human
resources/industrial relations, law, behavioural sciences, or another relevant discipline.

Six (6) years of progressively senior experience in Human Resources, with a focus on Labour/Employee Relations,
preferably in a complex unionized environment.

Excellent knowledge of labour and employment legislation and policies.

Well-developed strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to persuasively and effectively communicate and
present to diverse audiences.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with varied stakeholders.

The capability to mentor and coach others, fostering a supportive team.

The agility to adapt to shifting priorities and changing contexts with ease.

A legal background with experience in labour and/or employment law would be an asset.

Experience in the utility industry would be considered an asset.
