Context/Scope:
The Business Integrity (BI) program is focused doing business the right way, from grain to glass. This role is responsible for driving the Business Integrity agenda, as well as best-in-class compliance, risk management and controls programs, across Diageo HR and the Employee Experience tower within GBO.
You will act as business partner to HR team and Employee Experience (in GBO) to help them own, drive and lead their accountabilities related to ‘doing business in the right way’. You will act as second line of defense to the function, being responsible for risk indicators and potential red flags, looking for insights and root causes for breaches and advise on / coordinate interventions to mitigate risks.
Dimensions:
a. Financial
The role will not have direct budget responsibility but will have to consider commercial and financial implications associated to the risks and the resolution mitigations needed to ensure Diageo meets is Compliance obligations.
b. Market/Role Complexity
This role is required to collaborate closely with collaborators at various seniority levels across various functions and geographies in the organisation.
c. Leadership Responsibilities
Provides Subject Matter Expertise & Governance on all aspects of People Risk, Compliance and Controls.Provides management oversight of the business integrity requirements for Global HR CoE & GBO Employee Experience Leadership, including risk management committee facilitation.
Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to create a robust and sustainable People Risk, Controls, and Compliance Governance approach that ensures Diageo meets its obligations across all its People end-to-end processes.
Top Accountabilities
Act as trusted advisor across all levels of HR and Employee Experience (GBO) to provide decision support on any compliance, risk or controls matters.
Maintain relationships with senior stakeholders and influence leadership to maintain a strong tone-at-the-top and reinforce accountability and awareness of the Business Integrity agenda.
Risk Management oversight of all aspects of the business integrity agenda for HR, in partnership with the HRLT, including building capabilities around risk ownership to enable proactive risk identification, comprehensive assessments and mitigation plans, and facilitating the Risk Management Committee (RMC) meetings.
Advise HR as to growing a culture of integrity, develop plans on how to effectively embed our Code and policies through tailored risk-based engagement interventions which are driven in partnership with policy owners / functional heads.
Support Controls Assurance Team in annual controls scoping and mapping activities.
Support management on control testing and control self-assessments.
Partner with controls assurance team and management to strengthen the internal control environment.
Provide training on process, risks, and controls to the business.
Within the HR function, monitor effectiveness of risk-based education and training programme on our Code, policies and standards, including the annual certification (ACC), in partnership with Global BI and the Learning & Development team.
For the HR function, lead all aspects of HR breach management process (incl. Speakup process, outcome of investigations, remediation management and adequacy/consistency of consequence) and conduct a ‘root cause analysis’ to advise 'lessons learned' communications / engagement as needed.
Lead business change projects for embedding risk, controls and compliance within organisation, as required.
Qualifications and Experience Required
10+ years of experience in the following areas:
Technical expertise in standard methodologies of risk management, controls, compliance topics and audit experience to anticipate and prevent risk to the company.
Specialist knowledge in HR associated to regulatory Compliance and controls, that impact our people obligations.
Needs strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent judgment and a proven ability to “do the right thing” for Diageo.
Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems.
Experience working within Shared Services industry is preferable.
Barriers to Success in the Role
Poor written and oral communication in English.
Lack of risk mind-set.
Lack of ability to communicate and co-ordinate with different stakeholders in an
effective way.
Lack of ability on prioritisation, urgency and problem solving.
