Job Description
The Assistant Director – HR plays a critical role in supporting strategic and operational leadership within the Human Resources department. This role serves as a bridge between the university's academic/administrative departments and HR services to promote an effective, transparent, and supportive workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversight of the end-to-end recruitment cycle, ensuring compliance with university hiring standards.
• Design and implementation of effective onboarding and orientation programs.
• Support and coordination of the performance appraisal system and related training.
• Collaboration with the HR Director to formulate HR strategies in line with university objectives.
• Timely provision of HR data analytics and reports to support decision-making.
• Management of employee relations and disciplinary processes within institutional and legal frameworks.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws, university policies, and accreditation standards.
• Update and maintenance of comprehensive HR policies and procedural manuals.
• Conducting internal audits of employee records and HR processes for accuracy and compliance.
• Administration of compensation and benefits programs, including salary benchmarking and annual revisions.
• Provision of assistance and guidance on payroll, tax deductions, and leave management.
• Optimization of usage of HR systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS) to enhance operational efficiency.
• Oversight of payroll processing and ensuring accurate, timely disbursement of salaries.
• Adherence to statutory compliance related to PF, ESI, Income Tax, and Professional Tax.
Educational Qualification:
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a related field from a recognized university. Additional certifications in labor law, HR analytics, or HR technology are advantageous.
Experience:
A minimum of 10–12 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity. Prior experience in academic institutions or large, complex organizational settings is preferred.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, HRIS systems, payroll processes, and employee relations. Proficiency in HR software/tools such as SAP HR, Oracle HRMS, or similar platforms. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple HR functions and lead change initiatives.
