Position Summary...
Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
What you'll do...
About Team:
Walmart logistics comprises of distribution centres and fulfilment centres that power our online customers and store customers alike. They are crucial and indispensable for the business. Distribution centre wired team takes care of this critical network. End to end ownership of these DC/FCs lies with this team. From managing the change implementation to handling network down emergencies, this team does it all. Team comprises of both India and US engineers.
What you'll do:
• Understand the need of the logistics business partners and what is intended to be done. Work with them in unison. Plan meetings to discuss and come up with a solid execution plan. Be crystal clear in written and oral communications. Be willing to work with US engineers and partners and handover status to US when India shift is over.
• Troubleshoot network incidents with urgency. Coordinate with logistics NOC to understand what has been done and guide them to resolution.
• Understand from experience what is missing and what needs to be done. Quick thinking is most essential.
• Understand how to use management tools which can help understand impact and bring a faster resolution to the issue.
• Guide junior network engineers on a day to day basis. Helping them sharpen their skills and making the customers happy as a team.
What you'll bring:
• Minimum 8 years of pure network engineering experience – having worked in a NOC environment or project implementation team. (GSM or VSAT experience should not be considered valid)
• Minimum 4 years of experience handling network hardware – routers, switches, firewalls & access points.
• Good knowledge of Linux and Python (can provide some concession here)
