Job Description
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Accountant to support a stable, longstanding company in Roseville. Our client is a highly successful national firm with a strong leadership team who is committed to employee development. This is a contract role (6-months) and a great opportunity to work with a collaborative team. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accuracy in billing and job costing. This role will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to track costs, analyze variances, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies. 100% onsite. $33-$42/hour DOE.
The qualified candidate will be highly analytical and have at least five years of experience with project-related accounting in the construction industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor project costs and expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and approve payments.
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses for management review.
Collaborate with Project Managers for project billing, including updating billing percentages and analyzing project phase budgets
Assist in the preparation of audit materials and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Track invoices and communicate with clients to ensure receipt, resolve issues, and follow through with payment.
Review AP statements/resolve payment discrepancies etc.
Participate in project meetings to provide financial updates and projections.
Oversee accounts receivable and drive proactive collection efforts of the PAs & PMs.
Coordinate job audits with project accountants and accounting manager.
Respond to all financial inquiries in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist the project team with the preparation of monthly cost report and cash flow projections.
Ensure contract files are maintained and compliant with all contract requirements, executed documents, insurance, bonding, lien waivers, sales tax laws etc.
Perform various project related analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree.
5+ years of experience in project accounting within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel (Lookups, pivot tables etc.).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional time-management skills to ensure deadlines are met while providing accurate deliverables.
Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
