Engineering:
Our Engineering centre is in Bangalore while our sales offices and partners are spread across the country and specific regions outside India. Our Engineering team consists of highly talented engineers who live a purpose and dream to develop the software that will accomplish our goal – ‘To be the technology fabric that drives the economic growth of the world’.
To build this network of businesses Tally likes to build its own technology stack to deliver the required products. Major components of the stack are highlighted below.
Operating system: We use a trimmed-down version of the Linux
Database system: An Object-oriented database written by Tally to support single view, replication, distributed and multi-tenancy.
Web server & app server: We shall write our own hosting platform that can handle millions of connections per server.
Engineering function within Tally is responsible for the Design, Development & Testing of all the delightful and flawless products that we release for our customers. We at Engineering do deep technology innovation to deliver unique experiences and capabilities at scale for simplifying business operations across sectors and segments.
What will you own:
As a key member of our team, you will take ownership of the UI engine that powers our flagship on-premises desktop application for Windows. Your responsibilities will include:
Core UI Framework Development: Design, enhance, and maintain the UI engine to deliver an exceptional user experience.
Performance Optimization: Ensure the UI engine is optimized for responsiveness, stability, and seamless performance.
Feature Implementation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features into the UI framework, ensuring consistency and scalability.
Code Quality and Maintenance: Uphold high standards for code quality, documentation, and testing to ensure long-term maintainability of the UI engine.
This role provides a unique opportunity to shape the look and feel of a core product, directly influencing how users interact with and experience the software.

Your work will be at the heart of our desktop application, directly shaping how users interact with the product. By building a robust and efficient UI engine, you will ensure the application is intuitive, responsive, and visually appealing. Your contributions will enable seamless feature delivery, improve performance, and enhance the overall user experience, driving customer satisfaction and strengthening our product’s market presence.
Experience to bring with you:
Proficiency in C/C++ or Java development, OS concepts is a very good to have, it will help you be more effective in this role.
Proven track record of building and scaling high performance products.
Deeply understands GUI programming concepts in a ground up manner, backed up with hands on experience building high adoption B2B or B2C apps.
Experience in windows platform development, especially with Win32 or MFC API is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving ability with strong fundamentals in Computer Science.
Ability to breakdown complex and ambiguous work items into independent units of work that a team can execute.
Experience in working with cross functional teams, providing clarity, resolve conflicts, thereby enabling team to move fast and deliver high quality reliably software.
Actively engaged in projects related to architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
Experienced in leading teams that have built software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Contribute to improvements of tools, processes and systems aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness.
Mentor and influence team members and across functions, to adhere to excellent product standards.

Collaborative Feature Development: Working closely with our product development team, code designing and implementing new features for our web applications, ensuring alignment with client requirements and product vision.
Performance Optimization: You will optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and efficiency, utilizing best practices and innovative techniques to enhance overall performance and user satisfaction.
Troubleshooting and Debugging: You will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical issues, conducting thorough debugging and testing of applications to ensure high quality and reliability.
Code Review and Collaboration: Actively participating in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
Contribute to improvements of tools, processes and systems aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness.
Mentor and influence team members and across functions, to adhere to excellent product standards.
