Role: Team The Data Practice is the team made up of experts dedicated to Data centric offers (Data platform, Data Analytics, IoT, Big Data, Data compliance) who support our customers in their IT and Data transformations. We help customers choose the right tools and services, build highly scalable secure environments, and help them manage the maintenance of those environments. We come up with creative solutions to difficult problems and every engineer gets to have a large direct impact on each of those customers. The team is made up of engineers from all around the country in distributed teams. You can work fully remote or at any Claranet UK office - most people choose a combination of the two. Expectations Within the Data practice, you will be responsible for: Supporting MSSQL Database platforms. This will include: Troubleshooting Monitoring Optimization/tuning of system performance Security Reporting On-Call for forth-line support 24/7. Automation of all support activities including backups, patching, and script deployments. Accompany customers towards Cloud technologies, PaaS data platforms and other cloud-native Data Services. Ensure the storage, processing, and quality of customer data Requirements: Technology You’ll have experience with the following technologies: Microsoft SQL with appropriate up-to-date certifications Good working knowledge of Transact SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, DTS, Security Models and SQL diagnostic tools Database solutions from one or more of the public cloud providers: Azure (Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance) AWS (Amazon RDS) GCP (Cloud SQL) Managing data and deployments with Redgate and/or Liquibase Working knowledge of Windows and Linux Clustering What we value You have a positive mindset: you're excited by unfamiliar challenges and learning new things You're collaborative, supportive, and love to help others learn. You will deliver projects on a single Cloud Platform You will provide managed support for the MSSQL Database platforms. You’ll contribute to and develop new automation from improve the delivery of the service You’ll act as a fourth line escalation for any database support issues. You'll be able to take business requirements and translate that into high-level and/or low-level designs You'll be able to articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You'll be required to produce new technical content for internal use by our engineering teams Senior Database Administrator. You will be expected to deliver large-scale data migration and/or modernisation projects You’ll support and manage the environments of key strategic customers. You'll shadow and mentor other engineers to help them resolve complex support issues. You'll engage with key customer stakeholders in technical, pre-sales and commercial conversations You'll be expected to deliver workshops (either standard or bespoke) to customers. You'll be able to produce new written technical content for external use by our customers.
