Senior Underwriting Accountant – Contract
Salary - £700 per day for 12-months
London/ hybrid
A leading Lloyd’s market insurer is seeking a driven and technically strong Senior Underwriting Accountant to join its Underwriting Accounting team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a broad and visible role, working across multiple entities and jurisdictions while supporting the growth of the business.
You will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful underwriting MI, supporting entity, and group-level reporting, and playing a key role in financial control and planning processes.
With exposure to both actual and forecast data, you will partner closely with FP&A, Business Partners, and Actuarial teams, while also managing and mentoring two Underwriting Accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver underwriting MI and reporting across Syndicates, Bermudian reinsurers, and ILS vehicles
• Support actuals, forecast, and plan reporting under UK GAAP and Solvency II
• Lead key financial controls, including reconciliations and exception management
• Review outputs across the wider team and deputise for the Underwriting Accounting Manager
• Maintain and enhance the Annual Accounting Model (AAM) and collaborate on input development and reconciliation
What We’re Looking For:
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the London Insurance Market, ideally Lloyd’s
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and Solvency II
• Confident understanding of the Underwriting P&L
