MSA Safety Rainham Service Centre is now hiring for a Service Operative. This role will be counted on for a variety of functions and will be crossed trained in multiple areas to perform the following tasks:


The Service Centre Operative is a versatile, hands-on role responsible for supporting all operational processes within the laundry service center. The operative will be trained across multiple tasks, ensuring the smooth and efficient handling, processing and dispatch of customer garments and textiles to the required standards.


Where applicable, operatives with a valid driving license may also be required to undertake deliveries and collections to and from customer sites.


Preparation of Garments:

Prepare, check, and sort customer items before washing, ensuring accurate tagging and documentation in SAP to start the process.
Laundry Processing:
Operate washing and drying machinery safely and effectively, ensuring correct procedures, loads and program settings.
Inspection & Quality Control:
Check cleaned garments for quality and presentation, identifying and recording any issues or defects in SAP.
Packing & Dispatch:
Accurately prepare and pack completed orders for delivery or collection, ensuring correct paperwork and labelling.
Data Accuracy:
Maintain precise and accurate records at each stage of the process, ensuring clear, consistent documentation.
Deliveries & Collections (for license holders):
Operatives with a valid driving license may be required to carry out deliveries and collections using company vehicles. This involves safely transporting clean and soiled garments, ensuring accurate handovers, and providing professional, courteous service to customers.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct handling of chemicals, equipment, and vehicles.
Housekeeping:

Keep work areas clean, tidy, and organized to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Flexibility & Teamwork:

Support colleagues and other departments as required, covering various tasks in line with business needs.

Qualifications
Ability to work unusual hours.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
Good judgement and decision-making skills.
Ensuring paperwork trail and opening batches within the system are accurate.
Manual handling of laundry bags.
Ability to work under pressure and act with good judgement skills understanding order of priority.
Strong communication skills to work with the team.
Act as a role model.
Proficient use of computer and mouse.
Read, write and speak proficiently in English.
Sit, Stand, Reach, Bend, Walk, Kneel, Stoop, Lift up to 13.6 lbs.
Perform repetitive tasks with minimal supervision and sustain attention.
Meet deadlines.
Work in extreme heat or cold along with dust/fumes/gases and with moderate noise levels.
Wear required PPE such as facemasks, sleeves, gloves, eye protection.
