Description:

Course Number and Title: ENV223H1F Fundamental Environmental Skills


Course Description: The practical, interdisciplinary and controversial nature of environmental issues, as well as the uncertainty that surrounds measures to address them demand mastery of a particular range of skills by environmental students. This course teaches the fundamental research, analysis and presentation skills required for effective environmental work. This course is for students enrolled in the Environmental Studies Major program, or permission of the Undergraduate Associate Director.

Sessional Lecturer I - $+,820.70
Sessional Lecturer I Long-Term - $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II Long-Term - $10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III Long-Term - $11,030.36

Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.


Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in relevant area of study or equivalent professional and/or academic experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant academic or professional publications and previous experience teaching a similar undergraduate course are highly desirable.
Proficiency with teaching experiential and community-engaged learning.
Experience in research design, mixed-methods, and interdisciplinary research in environmental studies.
Experience working with Teaching Assistants.
Experience in teaching classes with over 100 students.

Description of Duties:

Develop a detailed syllabus and curriculum for the course
Teach the course in an in-person format
Evaluate student performance
Hold office hours and meet with students as they request
Manage teaching assistant(s)
Handle other pedagogical and administrative tasks ordinarily associated with an undergraduate course
