Job Description
The SIL Boutique is seeking a skilled and dependable Sewing Assistant Volunteer to support our efforts with alteration orders, garment preparation, and other related sewing duties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with fabrics and has experience in basic sewing, mending, and clothing alterations. The Sewing Assistant will help maintain the quality and presentation of garments and textiles, contributing to a welcoming and well-organized boutique environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform basic sewing tasks, including hemming, patching, and making minor alterations to clothing and fabric items
Maintain a clean and organized sewing station
Support other boutique volunteers as needed
Qualifications:
Experience with hand sewing and/or sewing machines
Familiarity with different fabric types and appropriate handling techniques
Ability to complete basic clothing alterations
Attention to detail and a sense of craftsmanship
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Willingness to uphold the values and mission of SIL
Time Commitment:
This is a flexible volunteer role. Volunteers are welcome to serve any time between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. A regular weekly commitment is appreciated but not required.
