Job Description

The Planner contributes to a wide range of urban design and site planning projects, supporting feasibility studies, programming, and technical research related to planning, zoning, and environmental issues. This role collaborates closely with internal teams and external agencies, prepares and coordinates project documentation, and uses design and drafting software to help deliver high-quality, well-organized project outcomes.

Responsibilities
• Support urban design and site planning efforts, including feasibility studies and programming for a variety of projects.
• Provide technical assistance and research on planning, zoning, and environmental matters to support project decision-making.
• Prepare, review, and maintain construction documents and other project-related drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Coordinate project activities and schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and effective communication among team members.
• Assist with project administration, including document control, meeting scheduling, and general administrative support.
• Attend planning commission, design review board, and other agency meetings as needed to support project approvals and presentations.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, and other project stakeholders to support architectural and urban design solutions.
• Respond to and track RFIs and other project correspondence to ensure accurate and up-to-date project records.
• Use Microsoft Office and Excel to prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and project documentation.
• Provide professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment by communicating effectively and supporting colleagues across disciplines.

Essential Skills
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and design documentation.
• Experience with Revit in an architectural or construction documentation context.
• Demonstrated project coordination and project administration experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with document control, RFI tracking, and general project documentation.
• Experience or strong familiarity with architecture, architectural design, or construction documents.
• Excellent teamworking and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling project information and documentation.
• Customer service mindset with the ability to interact professionally with clients, agencies, and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience supporting urban design, site planning, and feasibility studies.
• Familiarity with zoning, planning, and environmental research processes.
• Comfort presenting or supporting presentations at planning commission, design review board, or similar agency meetings.
• Administrative support experience in an architecture, engineering, or construction environment.
• Ability to schedule and coordinate meetings, including preparation of agendas and follow-up documentation.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment in Tempe. The role involves working closely with a collaborative project team, using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and the Microsoft Office suite throughout the day. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
