We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Job Title: Site Procurement Specialist

Salary: £49,500 to £60,000 (based on skills)

Contract: Full time & permanent

Location: Desford, Leicestershire - on-site presence required, 5-day week when not travelling

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Site Procurement Specialist to support all supply-related activities for the Desford facility, ensuring strong integration between procurement and the operational teams that support the site.

What you will do:

As a Site Procurement Specialist, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
• Driving a lean, responsive, and resilient flow of materials and services throughout the facility, ensuring efficient movement from source to dock and all internal points.
• Partnering closely with business stakeholders and suppliers to proactively analyse supplier performance, identify issues early, escalate concerns to Buyers, and troubleshoot collaboratively to maintain continuity of supply.
• Managing and monitoring supply network procurement activities to achieve defined targets for response time, cost efficiency, quality, and lean performance, enabling smooth and optimised facility operations.
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction, inventory optimisation, and quality enhancement, while ensuring business proposals are sound and risks are thoroughly assessed.
• Maintaining strict adherence to compliance requirements and supporting both internal and external audit activities.

NB. The panel cannot make assumptions when shortlisting therefore please demonstrate your qualifications and experience on your CV relevant to the criteria outlined.

What You Can Demonstrate:

Level Working Knowledge:
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Applies data-analysis techniques to gather, interpret, and organise information, ensuring decisions are evidence-based and support continuity of supply. Uses straightforward tools to identify supplier-performance trends, highlight risks early, and inform improvements in cost, quality, inventory, and material flow.
• Analytical Thinking: Approaches operational and supplier-related issues systematically, using structured methods to understand root causes and their impact on delivery, quality, and cost. Compares alternative solutions objectively and exercises sound judgement to identify patterns and dependencies that influence overall supply-chain performance.
• Effective Communications: Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues, suppliers, Buyers, and stakeholders, adapting language, listening actively, and avoiding unnecessary jargon. Provides constructive feedback and concise updates, using verbal and non-verbal cues to build trust, support collaboration, and maintain effective supply-chain coordination.

What You May Have:
• Applies recognised problem-solving methods such as 8D, A3, and 5-Why to identify root causes and deliver effective corrective actions.
• Negotiates pragmatic solutions to both urgent and planned procurement issues while managing conflict professionally to maintain continuity of supply.
• Monitors supplier performance through reviews and KPI/SLA tracking, identifying issues early and driving corrective action.
• Manages competing priorities with resilience, ensuring urgent operational needs are met while maintaining progress on planned activities.

Pending the number of applications, the criteria for the position may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting.
