Responsibilities
The social studies teacher would be responsible for instructing the US History, World History, US Government, and Geography classes
Faculty members teach students at various skill levels, assist in credit recovery, and collaborate with other core subject teachers in integrating curriculum and motivating each student to succeed
Teachers are informed about students’ treatment plan instructions and goals, and are expected to act as a role model of healthy behaviors
The academic assistant works closely with the Academic Director to support a variety of clerical and administrative duties, supports the academic faculty, and communicates with parents
Teach US History, World History, US Government, Geography, and other social studies classes
Create lesson plans for students that align with common core standards and objectives
Grade student assignments, essays and tests
Support struggling students during teacher office hours, and provide additional support to students as needed
Work with students with a wide range of learning differences including, but not limited to, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia
Support student IEPs and 504 plans
Be a teacher advisor for a small group of students
Support the development of students’ executive functioning skills
Attend all scheduled PLC meetings
Ensure that the classroom stays orderly
Encourage students to read out loud in class
Write progress reports for students
Create tests for students
Assign essays and homework to students
Assign grade-level books for students to read
Create student schedules and report cards using student transcripts
Compiling bi-weekly progress reports and sending them to parents
Answering emails from parents in a timely manner
Be a point of contact for staff in the school house when they have questions about what students should be doing in or outside of class
Keeping track of student progress in class and helping support them with assignments as needed
Keeping a running record of student attendance
Provide support with organizing and updating the Google Drive for academics
Computer support, setting students up with emails and passwords
Requesting transcripts, IEPs, and 504 plans from schools
Helping keep the schoolhouse in order (tidying and organizing)
Assisting students in getting to class and individual support
Compiling grad plans and transcripts for students
Provide technical assistance and check-ins for students enrolled in online classes
Monitoring student activity online
Assist teachers with obtaining classroom supplies and keeping the school supply closet and classrooms organized
Other duties as assigned by the Academic Director

About Us
At Cascade Academy, residential treatment center, we help adolescent girls struggling with severe anxiety embrace life with courage and joy. We work with girls from 13-18 years old to achieve their goals and learn how to move through the challenges of debilitating anxiety. We believe each girl has unique causes of anxiety including her genetics/physical health, life experiences, patterns of thinking, distress tolerance levels, and ability to navigate relationships. Our treatment team addresses every one of these areas in a personalized plan. Our academy is intentionally kept small, a limit of 26 girls, and located in the heart of scenic Midway Utah.
We are looking for qualified teachers to serve as educators. A current Utah (or other state) professional or associate educator license is preferred, but not required, for this position. The social studies teacher would be responsible for instructing the US History, World History, US Government, and Geography classes. Faculty members teach students at various skill levels, assist in credit recovery, and collaborate with other core subject teachers in integrating curriculum and motivating each student to succeed. Class sizes are small, averaging 8-10 students. Teachers are informed about students’ treatment plan instructions and goals, and are expected to act as a role model of healthy behaviors.

Qualifications for Teacher
• Secondary Professional or Associate Educator License with a social studies composite, history (or related) endorsement preferred. Or a willingness to obtain one.
• 2 years of experience teaching preferred
