Job Description
The Turningpoint Program (Unit 3-6) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is an 18-bed inpatient forensic unit that supports youths and young adults who are in conflict with the law. The Turningpoint Program provides assessment, stabilization, short- and long-term treatment to youth with legal standing under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Stabilization is also provided to youths experiencing an acute psychiatric disturbance. The Turningpoint Program is a very dynamic and unique program, and the successful candidate will be skilled with engagement, de-escalation skills and healthy boundaries, while providing excellent care in a collaborative team environment. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2026. Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in psychiatric, mental health or forensic settings and a working knowledge of the DSMV is required. Certification in Suicide Prevention and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with an adolescent population.
