Your opportunity
As a Solution Architect, you will work closely with business stakeholders, ideation teams, and delivery partners to define and guide end-to-end solution designs across applications, data, integration, AI, and cloud platforms. You will ensure solutions are practical, secure, supportable, and aligned with DairyNZ’s enterprise architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps.
This role acts as the delegated architecture representative within projects, helping ensure architectural decisions are well-governed, risks and trade-offs are clearly understood, and intended outcomes are delivered.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, you will support the Digital Technologies team, including:
Designing solutions across applications, data, integration, AI and cloud platforms using appropriate architectural patterns and non-functional requirements.
Leading end-to-end solution design for projects from discovery through to delivery.
Translating business needs into clear solution options, articulating risks, constraints, costs and trade-offs.
Partnering with delivery teams during implementation to provide architecture guidance, resolve design issues, and ensure alignment to agreed designs.
Producing and maintaining solution architecture artefacts, including diagrams and architecture decision records.
Acting as the Enterprise Architect’s delegated representative to support alignment with enterprise architecture standards and governance.
Supporting architecture reviews and assurance activities, ensuring solutions meet security, privacy, compliance, and quality requirements.
Defining architecture approaches for AI-enabled solutions, including integration patterns, data lifecycle considerations, security and privacy controls, responsible AI principles, and operational readiness.
Promoting reuse of architectural patterns and shared services to reduce complexity, cost, and delivery risk.
Contributing to continuous improvement and supporting the adoption of new practices and ways of working across DairyNZ.
What you’ll bring
You’ll bring a passion for designing fit-for-purpose technology solutions that deliver real-world value, along with a genuine interest in supporting the future of New Zealand dairy farming. With a strong background in digital solution architecture and ideally a tertiary qualification in information or technology disciplines, you enjoy translating complex business needs into clear, robust solution designs. As a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, you’ll demonstrate integrity and professionalism, lead through influence, and bring curiosity, clarity, and energy to collaborative delivery.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
A tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology (or equivalent experience).
Strong experience designing end-to-end solutions across applications, data and integration domains.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), APIs, integration patterns, and security principles.
Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments with modern SDLC and CI/CD practices.
Proven ability to collaborate with and influence technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with architecture governance, design assurance, and AI-enabled solution design is an advantage.
