About the Role
We’re looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Information Services team here at Hutt City Council. This is a key role where you’ll shape how our digital ecosystem evolves to better serve our community.
You’ll lead the design of end-to-end technology solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and aligned with our strategic direction. Working across a wide range of initiatives, you’ll partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into practical, future-focused solutions. This is a collaborative role where you’ll influence decisions, guide delivery, and help lift architectural capability across Council.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading solution architecture for new digital initiatives and system enhancements
Designing end-to-end solutions across applications, integrations, cloud/SaaS and infrastructure
Producing clear architecture artefacts (design documents, diagrams, requirements) to support delivery
Providing architectural governance and assurance through design reviews and standards
Identifying risks early and ensuring solutions meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements
Supporting project scoping, vendor selection, and implementation activities
Developing and maintaining solution roadmaps aligned to Council’s Information Services Strategy
Building strong relationships across technical teams and business units to enable successful outcomes
About You
We’re looking for an experienced and pragmatic Solutions Architect who can balance technical excellence with real-world delivery.
You’ll bring:
Proven experience in Solutions Architecture or senior technical design roles in complex environments
Strong ability to design end-to-end solutions across enterprise systems, integrations, and cloud platforms
A solid understanding of architecture principles, patterns, and governance practices
Experience translating business requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at all levels
Knowledge of security, privacy, and risk considerations in solution design
Experience supporting vendor selection, procurement, and implementation
