Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Sous Chef to join our team at Smokehouse by BraaiCraft. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to delivering high-quality food and have experience in grilling, smoking, and outdoor cooking techniques. The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, and maintaining our high standards of food preparation and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing the menu, focusing on smoked and grilled dishes.
• Supervise and manage kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and cleanliness.
• Ensure all food preparation is done according to Smokehouse by BraaiCraft’s standards of quality and presentation.
• Monitor food stock and inventory, placing orders as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
• Take initiative in developing new menu items, especially those that utilize our smokers and grills.
• Train junior kitchen staff and ensure their adherence to kitchen protocols.
• Oversee the preparation of large group meals and special event catering (like weekend roasts).
• Assist in the daily setup of kitchen operations and restaurant service.
• Ensure kitchen operations adhere to FSSAI hygiene and health regulations.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen role, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of grilling, smoking, and outdoor cooking techniques.
• Ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and maintain a positive work environment.
• Understanding of kitchen health and safety regulations.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of food quality.
• Experience with menu planning and food cost management is an advantage.
• Passion for locally sourced ingredients and sustainable practices.
• Ability to relocate and work in a remote, scenic location.
