Soi Arcade — Restaurant & Bar | Sydney CBD
Soi Arcade is seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support the leadership and daily operation of our kitchen team.
This role is suited to a chef who is confident running service, managing kitchen teams and maintaining high standards in food quality, organisation and cost control.
The venue operates at a premium level with a focus on steak, seafood and New York-inspired cuisine, including corporate and high-volume event service.
Position Details
Casual position: 35–45 hours per week
Roster: Tuesday to Saturday (evening service and weekends required)
Salary: $40 per hour (Flat rate)
Opportunity to transition to full-time after 6 months ($95,000 per annum salary plus super)
Key Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role
Strong product knowledge, particularly steak cookery and seafood
Experience working in busy, structured kitchen environments
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage service pressure and prioritise effectively
Professional presentation and reliability
Full Australian working rights
Availability to work nights and weekends
Responsibilities
Assist with rostering and kitchen labour management
Lead kitchen operations during service
Support menu development and seasonal updates
Maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS compliance
Manage ordering, stock control and food cost targets
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
Work closely with Front of House to ensure efficient service
Contribute to a positive and disciplined team culture
