Making a real impact on high-risk youth, a Special Education Teacher in the Department of Youth Services (DYS) plays a vital role in helping students overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
About the Role:
Compensation Package: $55,32+ - $78,363 + Benefits
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, 185/186 days per year
Location: Nashua St Jail, Boston, MA
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, specialized lessons aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Differentiate instruction based on student needs, ensuring a tailored approach to learning
Collaborate with DYS staff to support student growth and development
Provide social-emotional support and transition planning to help students succeed
Monitor and report on IEP progress, tracking student advancement
Engage families through conferences and events, fostering open communication
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
MA license in Mild-to-Moderate Disabilities (Grades 5-12)
Commitment to teaching high-risk youth, with a passion for making a positive impact
Master's Degree preferred; multilingual candidates highly desired
