Special Education Teacher - Full Time
This position is responsible for teaching and supporting students with diverse learning needs in a junior high setting.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities, both in self-contained and inclusive settings.
Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists to ensure comprehensive support for students.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians through regular updates and progress reports.
Utilize available resources, materials, and assistive technologies to support student learning and achievement.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices and methodologies in special education.
Evaluate and apply federal and state laws related to special education to ensure compliance and promote inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms.
Qualifications:
A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
Previous teaching experience in special education is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of effective strategies for working with students with diverse learning needs.
Ability to adapt to and address the unique challenges and opportunities of a diverse student population.
Working Conditions:
Location: Chicago Ridge, IL.
Duration: SY 2026-24.
Onsite/Virtual: Onsite.
Position Type: Full Time.
Working Hours: 40 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday.
Student Age Group: Junior High.
Case Load: 7 Kids.
