The role
You will be part of a Sport Business Administration team to ensure Sport Hallam delivers an excellent customer/user experience to all its stakeholders.
You’ll work right across the Sport Hallam Team as well as the wider university to facilitate the delivery of a range of programmes, bookings, processes, and sport participation opportunities.
It is essential that you have good customer service skills as the role is based on a busy helpdesk, dealing with customer queries in person, over the phone and via email.
You'll need to have excellent communication skills and be confident working with a wide variety of people.
You will be expected to deliver a high-quality administrative service whilst also receiving and responding to customer enquiries, so it is important that you can organise and prioritise your workload, using your initiative.
Strong IT skills and attention to detail are essential as the role requires use of a range of operating systems to facilitate bookings and enquiries, plus the administration of finances including sales, purchasing and invoicing.
The team
Sport Hallam is the University department responsible for delivering sport and fitness provision at Sheffield Hallam to our students, staff and local community. From facility operations and fitness services to performance sport and outreach, our work is central to enabling healthier lives and building stronger communities. A staff team of 34 contracted staff, work together with an extended workforce of sports coaches, fitness instructors, volunteers and casual staff to provide an excellent sporting experience and contribute to the University’s overarching aim of ‘transforming lives’, making a difference through sport and physical activity.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.
Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/49th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 22% of your salary). For a starting salary of £25,000, for example, the University would pay just over £5,400 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £510 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
