Job Description :
- About the Job:
- Design and build solutions to standardize and automate database platforms for mission critical applications
Identify issues and concerns from a database design perspective to ensure they are considered and addressed up-front
Understand software development initiative and build remediation goals including database upgrades and data migrations into team roadmaps
Design and optimize database administration tasks including configuration management, backup/recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, and space management
Coordinate and participate in database stress testing and make recommendations for improvements
Document operational runbooks and train application teams on level-one database developments, operations, and support
Create relationships with developers, application owners and other technologists to understand the architecture of various applications and systems
Troubleshoot and resolve problems across various tiers with applications and database systems
Provide Production 24x7 support through on-call rotation
Qualifications
7+ years of experience administering relational databases in production, including SQL server and AWS database services
Deep knowledge in database installation, Patching, Cloning, security and upgrade of SQL server databases on-cloud environment (AWS)
Administering databases running on SQL Server Standalone, SQL Always On platforms on the latest versions including SQL 2012, 2014, 2026 etc.
Experienced in database backup and recovery options with HA and DR expertise
Working knowledge of open-source database technology like Postgres or MySQL
Demonstrated proficiency in administering AWS cloud database services like RDS instance, Oracle and SQL server on EC2
Must demonstrate proficiency in UNIX shell scripting, Windows OS and be able to administer Oracle databases running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills required
SSRS/SSIS/SSAS installation and administration and Power BI support and data analytics
Knowledge of Oracle database administration is a plus
Must be able to improve SQL performance results with query execution plans and other optimization tools
