Database Administrator/h2pWe are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise-scale SQL Server environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
This role requires expertise in database architecture, performance tuning, automation, and high availability strategies to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable data solutions.
/ppIn this role, you will:
/pulliManage large-scale SQL Server databases across on-prem and cloud environments (Azure, AWS)./liliDesign and optimize OLTP and data warehouse architectures for scalability and performance./liliLead query tuning, indexing strategies, and table partitioning./liliConfigure and maintain SQL Server replication, Always On Availability Groups, and failover clustering to ensure high availability and disaster recovery./liliPerform installations, patching, upgrades, and migrations for SQL Server 2017 and newer versions./liliAutomate DBA tasks and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Octopus Deploy./liliMonitor system health and performance using tools such as SQL Sentry and Idera./liliEnsure database security, compliance, and sustainability while proactively resolving bottlenecks./liliPartner with technology leadership to align database strategy with business goals./liliCollaborate with developers for query tuning and schema refinement./liliMentor junior DBAs and data engineers to promote best practices./liliHands-on experience with SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, and emerging platforms like Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Cosmos DB./li/ulpWhat youll need to succeed (required skills):/pulli8+ years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database administration and architecture./liliStrong expertise in SQL Server 2017 and newer versions./liliProven experience with replication, performance tuning, and index management./liliSolid understanding of OLTP and data warehouse design principles./liliExperience with Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and AWS RDS./liliProficiency in database monitoring tools (SQL Sentry, Idera)./liliExcellent interpersonal and communication skills./liliMicrosoft SQL certifications (MCSA, MCSE) preferred./liliExposure to PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Cosmos DB is an added advantage.
/li/ulpSalary and Other Compensation:
/ppThe annual salary for this position is between $79,000 to $92,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizants discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizants applicable plans.
