JOB DESCRIPTION
The SQL Administrator works in partnership with the Application Development team to design, implement, and troubleshoot database objects. From new functionality to maintenance, the SQL Administrator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the stability of SQL instances across the enterprise.
Essential Functions
• Assist development team in day-to-day tasks
• Implement and enforce best practices across database environments
• Review stored procedures, functions, views, and other database objects per best practices
• Monitor overall database health and identify and resolve performance issues
• Monitor SQL Backups, storage, and jobs
• Merge, commit, and deploy database objects and code
• Design and Implement architectural changes for transactional and warehouse applications
• Create and manage database object documentation and other technical artifacts relating to development.
Competencies/Skills
• 4-6 years SQL Admin experience is preferred.
• Ability to draw conclusions, escalates issues, and formulates recommendations.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server Administration and best practices
• Strong working knowledge of T-SQL and usage
• Strong organizational, re-engineering and problem-solving skills (Research, gather, arrange, compile, interpret, summarize and ability to effectively interface with all levels of management.
• Self-starter with ability to balance multiple projects with aggressive deadlines and strong attention to detail.
• Flexible and willing to work on a multitude of tasks to support company's goals and objectives
