Job Outline
As a SQL database administrator (DBA) you will handle all facets of managing Microsoft SQL Server (2017, 2026) ranging from installation, configuration, patching, migration, and maintaining performance levels.
Duties and responsibilities
. Responsible for Installing, configuring, patching, maintaining SQL Server (2017, 2026)
. Plan and action migration and upgradation of SQL server
. Responsible for planning, configuring, and maintaining HA (high availability) and DR (disaster recovery) solutions: Backup/Restore, FCI (failover cluster instance), AG (availability groups), Mirroring, Replication, Log-shipping
. Test HA and DR strategy to ensure that businesss Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO); ensure that the backups are verified and tested
. Maintain baselines for performance benchmarks & examine SQL Server wait statistics
. Monitoring SQL Server, SQL Server logs, SQL Server Agent logs, Windows logs and troubleshooting to ensure optimum performance
. Monitor Clusters and troubleshooting Clustering Issues, performing failovers
. Tuning the server and database settings for optimum performance (identifying missing Indexes, unnecessary indexes, resource intensive queries, providing query tuning recommendations; handling index fragmentation, statistics updates)
. Monitor disk space, database consistency
. Configure & utilize SQL Server monitoring utilities and alerts
. Document the companys database environment
. Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS)
. Data File space handling, File system alerts & Storage capacity plan reporting
. Monitoring and resolution of deadlock and blocking session
. DB Audit configuration and monitoring
. Hands-on experience with SQL Server in the cloud
