Job Summary:
As a Senior Fashion Designer at Mahuka Fashion, you will play a key role in conceptualizing and designing collections that showcase our unique style, with a focus on women’s ethnic wear. Your expertise in blending traditional styles with contemporary trends will be instrumental in creating garments that appeal to our diverse customer base. You will lead design projects from concept to final product, working closely with the design team, pattern makers, and production to ensure a seamless creative process.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design Creation & Development:
• Develop innovative, stylish, and trend-conscious designs for our ethnic wear collections (sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, and more).
• Conceptualize and design collections that reflect the brand’s aesthetic, target market, and seasonal trends.
• Create detailed sketches, mood boards, fabric swatches, color palettes, and design specifications to communicate design concepts.
• Trend Analysis & Research:
• Stay up-to-date with both global and regional fashion trends, ethnic wear innovations, and consumer preferences.
• Conduct market research to understand the latest trends in women’s ethnic fashion, fabric materials, and techniques.
• Experiment with different fabrics, embroidery styles, and design elements to create fresh, original collections.
• Technical Design & Prototyping:
• Collaborate with pattern makers, fabric suppliers, and the production team to ensure designs are translated correctly into finished garments.
• Oversee the sampling process, making necessary adjustments and ensuring that each piece reflects the intended design, fit, and quality.
• Provide detailed instructions on garment construction, fabric specifications, trims, and embellishments.
• Leadership & Mentorship:
• Lead and mentor junior designers, providing feedback, guidance, and support to ensure timely and high-quality design execution.
• Foster a collaborative and creative environment within the design team, encouraging innovation and fresh perspectives.
• Brand Vision & Strategy:
• Contribute to the brand’s design strategy, ensuring that all collections align with Mahuka Fashion’s core values and market positioning.
• Actively participate in the seasonal collection development process, from conceptualization to final designs ready for production.
• Product Development & Finalization:
• Oversee the transition of designs from concept to production, ensuring that each collection maintains the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure efficient sourcing of fabrics, trims, and materials that complement the designs.
• Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure perfect fit and finish.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in fashion design, with a strong background in women’s ethnic wear (sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, etc.).
• Education: Degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
• Portfolio: A robust portfolio demonstrating your expertise in ethnic wear design, including sketches, completed collections, and technical designs.
• Design Software: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, and other design software.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of fabric types, garment construction, embroidery techniques, and garment fitting.
• Creativity & Innovation: Strong creative vision with a keen eye for design, texture, color, and detail.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and collaborate with a design team to execute projects efficiently.
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate design ideas clearly to other team members and stakeholders.
Preferred:
• Experience working with high-end ethnic wear brands or traditional Indian apparel.
• Expertise in Indian fabric crafts, embroidery, and textile design.
• Familiarity with global and regional market trends in ethnic fashion.
