In Payments Security, we protect foundational systems and products that allow Amazon to accept payments for all goods, content and services that people buy at Amazon and around the world. We are looking for an Sr. Technical Program Manager to drive initiatives aimed to secure Amazon Payments most critical businesses protecting mission-critical services and customer experiences. You will focus on securing the products and frameworks in Amazon Payments that processes millions of transactions every day across dozens of countries and payment methods. Over 100 million customers and merchants send tens of billions of dollars through our systems annually. We are re-inventing the vision of our platform to provide our internal and external clients the best payment gateway service.

Payments Security owns full-stack Product Security for Payments across Amazon and its business units, deeply supporting the Global Payments businesses. We are part of Amazon's broader Stores Security organization responsible for protecting Amazon’s global information assets. We partner across global Payments business units to innovate in full-stack security (data, application, network, containers, infrastructure), ensuring our Payments applications and infrastructure are secure-by-design from concept to launch and into continuous operations. We are a strategic security partner to our Payments businesses ensuring we uphold the highest security bar for our production and pre-production systems, balancing short-term mitigations with long-term secure-by-design architectural solutions, making Security simpler and differentiated.

We provide security “In the Cloud” and enable scalable mechanisms for software developers and systems to meet Amazon’s security and privacy requirements. We are both a customer and a partner to AWS in raising security awareness, providing scalable tools, and protecting shared infrastructure.

This position will provide you with a challenging and rewarding opportunity to solve difficult security problems at planetary scale. As a Technical Program Manager you will help ensure that customer data is secure across Amazon Payments products and services. You will help define short-term and long-term security strategy. You will balance your efforts between strategic and operational deliverables. You will have the opportunity to work with talented security and other engineering teams within Amazon. You care deeply about keeping Amazon customers data secure and therefore are passionate about finding, and mitigating vulnerabilities/risks by providing actionable guidance to product teams and drive long term security improvements.

You're well-known for your deep security technical knowledge, your excellent program management, and your excellent prioritization skills as well as your ability to communicate at all levels of an organization (technical and non-technical). The successful candidate must be autonomous, comfortable operating in highly ambiguous situations, and must deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Efficient time management skills are required along with the ability to deliver results in the face of uncertainty. Technical Program Managers in this role must show exemplary judgment in making technical trade-offs between short versus long term security and business goals. They must also demonstrate resilience and navigate difficult situations with composure and tact. The successful candidate must be one that can own end-to-end critical initiatives in Amazon Payments, Payments Security, and other teams at Amazon.

Key job responsibilities
• Define, scope, manage, and ensure the successful delivery of key programs and other security initiatives end-to-end. This includes collecting business and systems requirements from stakeholders, authoring specifications, driving end-to-end project schedules, reducing risks, and reporting status.
• Collect inputs from business, security, technical teams, and other stakeholders to build program plans to implement, and deliver desired security outcomes
• Break large and complex projects down into manageable pieces, secure stakeholder alignment, committed resources, and deliver projects in a successful and timely manner.
• Define goals and drive clarity for ambiguous or poorly defined problems, and drive them to resolution. Create KPIs, and other reporting metrics, and own end-to-end reporting on programs that you own.
• Lead and coordinate implementation efforts to develop effective solutions, make appropriate trade-offs to manage dependent release schedules, and clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Work with technical and non-technical teams to refine plan, obtain stakeholder buy-in, and execute the programs.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, remove blockers, handle business escalations with a data-driven approach, make trade-offs, and balance the business needs against technical constraints
• Coordinate projects across multiple teams, driving them to successful conclusion while building strong, lasting relationships with internal and external customers
• Provide both structured and creative thinking in a dynamic, evolving, multi team environment.
• Communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization which include technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as an influencer across diverse teams, effectively rally support for your initiatives, and help deeply technical teams create simple solutions to meet your program goals.
• Create security guidance and documentation
• Support security escalations
• Carry out/own new, reoccurring, and ad-hoc security projects and consultations.
• Support for mentoring, team building, and recruiting activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
• 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems, or experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
