This position is responsible for performing geotechnical analyses and providing design/construction recommendations for foundations .supporting all types of transportation facilities, including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conducting field explorations and inspections; conducting seismic surveys; performing stability analyses for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; providing design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; performing stability and settlement analyses for embankments
This position prepares geotechnical reports and design memoranda; reviews construction project plans, specifications, and cost estimates; manages outside consultants' geotechnical work; attends meetings; conducts construction inspections; provides technical assistance during construction projects; and provides support in disputing contractors' claims

This position is located within the Materials Division m Carson City. This position is responsible for performing geotechnical analyses and providing design/construction recommendations for foundations .supporting all types of transportation facilities, including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conducting field explorations and inspections; conducting seismic surveys; performing stability analyses for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; providing design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; performing stability and settlement analyses for embankments. To Qualify
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
