We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller/ Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organization. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial management, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. Will assist in overseeing the accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall financial strategy of the company.
Responsibilities:
• Work with Controller to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
• Assist in completion of annual reviews and audits
• Assist with monthly revenue reporting and AR tracking
• Preparing dealership financial statements monthly and supplemental reports
• Preparing and entering journal transactions
• Reconcile all accounts and schedules monthly
• Payroll – Workforce now experience a plus. Including 401K & HSA upload
• Accounts Payable review and check signing / Accounts Receivable review/ Boat Sales closings
• Daily banking / Bank reconciliation
• Prepare Cost sheets on deals – New – Used – Brokerage sales. Track all salespersons commission statements
• Prepare & Remit sales tax for NY, NJ & Florida
• Place all yacht orders / handle all order changes / review orders with manufacturers
• Review all sales department closing statements, all closing work - transfer paperwork, registrations, documentation.
• Handle all floor planning of units, approvals, deposits, payments, customs clearing, and yearly line reviews with floor plans
• Prepare closing statements for all Viking / Princess / Valhalla deals
• Yearly workers comp / disability audits/ 401K census reporting
• Track all units due in
• Oversee day to day accounting
• Other items that arise every day
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of general ledger experience
• Accounting degree
• Accounting package experience – Dockmaster a plus
• Proficient in Excel
• Excellent communication skills
• Professional appearance
• Positive attitude
