Description
We are looking to add a Staff Accountant to our team located in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including processing transactions, managing accounts receivable and payable, and assisting in the budgeting process. This is an opportunity to contribute to the financial health and success of our organization.
Responsibilities
• Assist in the monthly closeout process, including the timely processing of transactions and reconciliations.
• Manage accounts receivable by initiating the creation of invoices, recording payments received, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
• Handle accounts payable duties, such as processing vendor invoices, credit card bills, and expense reports, and reconciling invoice discrepancies.
• Provide regular budget-to-actual reports to program managers, directors, and the finance committee.
• Contribute to the annual budgeting process and assist program managers and development staff with proposed budgets.
• Prepare required workpapers and provide requested documentation during the annual financial audit, single audit, and form ++0.
• Maintain documentation for grant compliance, annual audit, and funder desk reviews.
• Process payroll and benefits allocations, including journal entries, and maintain ongoing communication with the payroll service provider to ensure related tasks and issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Use accounting software such as NetSuite and QuickBooks to manage and organize financial data.
• Apply accounting skills such as accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger management, and journal entries.
Requirements
• Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is necessary
• Background in General Ledger and Journal Entries is required
• Familiarity with Month End Close process is essential
• Experience with NetSuite and QuickBooks is a must
• Knowledge of Grant Accounting is crucial for this role
• Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
