Position Title: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Controller
Status: Full Time/Non Exempt
Hourly Wage: $25 - $30
Summary: The Staff Accountant contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounting Department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail. This role utilizes strong accounting knowledge, time management skills and effective problem solving to ensure success.
Primary Responsibilities (Including but not limited to)
Responsible for Accounts Payable. Processes and runs checks.
Responsible for member receivables and daily closing of point-of-sale (POS) system.
Primary contact for members regarding account questions.
Processes and balances credit card receivables and ACH payments.
Prepares and sends all banquet event billings.
Assists with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processing.
Compiles and maintains insurance and tax forms of vendors.
Provide general cashier duties as needed, including but not limited to, paying out cash to employees for reimbursement of expenses and making change.
Collects cash and receipts from deposits safe and applies all receivables to accounts accordingly.
Maintains and performs impromptu audits of cash boxes.
Records and makes all daily cash deposits.
Follows financial and accounting policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all accounting and financial principles and reporting standards.
Assists with the preparation of accounting and financial audits.
Maintains and orders office supplies.
Responsible to become cross-trained and back up for all accounting/payroll positions.
Qualifications
Experience working with Salesforce is desired.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for interacting with colleagues, members, and external vendors. This includes the ability to explain financial information and answer any questions with membership, and colleagues.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is critical in accounting roles to ensure accuracy in financial records, reports, and calculations.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This includes prioritizing work effectively and adapting to changing priorities as needed.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments or teams, as accounting functions often intersect with other areas of the organization such as finance, operations, and audit.
Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated on changes in accounting regulations, industry trends, and technological advancements impacting the field of accounting.
