Staff Accountant Job Description
Job Summary:
At TempWorks, the Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, detailed reports, account reconciliations, and other general accounting duties.
General Responsibilities:
Perform bank reconciliations daily for multiple accounts
Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
Prepare and record balance sheet and income statement journal entries
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposal
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Assist with financial and tax field exams and audits
Works to identify and resolve accounting errors
Perform ad hoc analytical and financial analyses on projects and other activities, as appropriate
Assist in filing of multiple Annual Business Reports, state returns, Franchise Tax reports, SOS renewals
Maintain proper documentation and filing systems
Protects Company’s value by keeping information confidential
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Advanced understanding of Accounting procedures and advanced knowledge of Excel
Ability to work independently
Education and Experience:
Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
3+ years of accounting experience in a fast paced, small to mid-sized company
Experience with accounting systems; experience with Sage 300 preferred
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of accounting principles, familiarity with GAAP, banking, and the analysis of financial data
Knowledge of month/quarter/annual closing procedures
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times
The pay range for this role is: $54,000 - $75,000
