TELACU Residential Management, Inc. (TRM) has developed thousands of apartment homes, creating beautiful residential communities throughout California. (TRM), which provides the highest levels of in-house oversight, security, maintenance, and social service care that our residents deserve. We are looking for a Staff Accountant to help us perform monthly closings and maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial statements for the TELACU Residential Management, Inc. (TRM) and TELACU Property Management, Inc. (TPM) portfolio. Prepares and submits budgets annually, ensures rent increases are requested as needed along with extending contracts with expiration dates.
Essential Job Duties:
Completes monthly closing processes including preparing and posting journal entries.
Reviews general ledger accounts, and maintains monthly schedules for balance sheet accounts.
Prepares periodic financial statements including balance sheets, budget to actual variance analysis, and cash flow reports for all assigned TRM and TPM portfolio. Researches and analyzes variances between budget and actual by making necessary journal entry adjustments and/or explanation.
Provides accurate and timely periodic financial reports.
Compiles data, prepares operating budgets for all assigned TRM and TPM portfolio, and submits operating budgets to agencies for approval.
Renews contracts with federal, state or local agencies.
Updates and maintains project data within budget files. Enters budget amounts into accounting system, updates management fees and other fees to ensure proper accounting records.
Researches, writes clear and concise responses to questions and requests from agencies, owners, and outside auditors.
Completes special projects assigned by Controller, Vice President of Accounting, and President within the specified time frame.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must have strong foundational computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook email and calendaring, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, etc.), and the Internet.
JD Edwards and OneSite experience preferred.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
2+ years of general ledger maintenance with multiple entities.
2+ years of “hands-on” experience with a mainframe accounting software.
Knowledge of HUD multifamily housing regulations or property management preferred.
Data entry experience with exceptional speed and accuracy is required.
Ability to handle multiple entities, multiple deadlines, and multi-tasks.
Ability to research, write and proofread professional letters and emails.
Exceptional interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
Excellent attention to detail, prioritize, diligent, proactive, open-minded, positive, and focused.
Proven ability to be flexible and adaptive to fast-paced environment and with multiple different personnel.
Ability to work overtime with supervisor pre-approval and as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Constantly (6-8+ hours per day) - Sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel (computer operation)
Occasionally (Up to 3 hours per day) - Standing, Walking, Stooping/Bending, reaching with hands and arms, Lifting up to 20 lbs.
