### Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant, you will support the Controller with various accounting functions. Your responsibilities will include managing construction and grant project accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledgers), payroll, account analysis, variance analysis, and monthly reporting. You will also play a key role in monitoring financial performance and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
### Requirements:
Must-Have Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct
• 3+ years of accounting experience in a similar role, covering AP, AR, ledgers, payroll, account analysis, KPI variance analysis, and monthly reporting
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with construction-related accounting functions
• Previous experience in a nonprofit accounting role
• Proficiency in M365 (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Exceptional organizational, communication, problem-solving, research, and follow-up skills
### Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with team members to monitor project/grant financial status, including the allocation of personnel and costs for payroll processing
• Prepare monthly reports with budget-to-actual analysis and identify risks or opportunities, along with special analyses as required
• Contribute to monthly and year-end close processes, including preparing entries, reconciliations, workpapers, financial statements, and analyses
• Design and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and adapt to external changes, including defining roles, establishing procedures, leveraging technology, and creating process swim lane analysis
### Goals:
• Maintain awareness of deadlines
• Review and improve accounting practices for efficiency, accountability, and management
• Execute month-end closing schedules
• Develop improved reporting methods and information dissemination throughout the organization
• Develop KPI variance analysis and reporting
