Job Summary
VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime (Japanese comics and animation), is looking for a Staff Accountant - Revenue. The Revenue Accounting team is responsible for ensuring that revenue is captured and recognized correctly per agreements and transaction reports while ensuring that revenue recognition is US GAAP compliant. The Staff Accountant, Revenue will perform revenue accounting, billing, collections, and related general accounting functions for assigned business units.
What You'll Do:
• Process customer payments received through bank wire, ACH, and checks
• Process invoices timely and accurately per the agreements and sub-licensing reports
• Prepare transaction data for recording in the accounting system
• Collect the monthly and quarterly reports from sub-licensees to compute and record licensing revenue
• Track past-due invoices and work with customers and internal teams to collect past-due payments.
• Record Journal Entries
• Other ad-hoc projects and duties as required to support the Accounting/Finance department
The Ideal Candidate Has:
• 3+ years of experience with Billing or Revenue processing, particularly in a high-volume environment
• Basic GAAP accounting knowledge
• Experience in reviewing contractual agreements for financial terms required
• Financial ERP systems experience, preferably Oracle E-business Suite or Oracle Fusion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with formulas and pivot tables
• Ability to maintain great attention to detail when working with large amounts of data
• Ability to take the lead, work independently, manage requests, and support billing for multiple individuals and teams
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including written communication, to establish and maintain strong working relationships
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position
Work Environment & Schedule
Location: Open to candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area. VIZ Media operates on a hybrid schedule with 1 day of onsite work at our downtown San Francisco office each week.
Schedule: This is a Regular Full-Time position with flexibility in working hours outside of our core hours of 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The Staff Accountant, Revenue may need to work late or on weekends or be on call for occasional urgent issues.
Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000 base salary, with additional variable compensation
