Staff Attorney - Veterans Services
Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) is recruiting for a full-time (35 hours per week) staff attorney in the Anchorage office to resolve civil-legal problems impacting Alaskan veterans’ most basic needs. Created with the generous support from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, the position will provide direct civil legal assistance to veterans, with the goal of improving the social determinants of health for veterans across Alaska. The Veterans Services Staff Attorney will have responsibility for addressing legal matters related to healthcare and other earned benefits, discharge upgrade work, housing, and more.
Required: Applicants must be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and be eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver. Information on Bar admission or requirements for a waiver can be found at www.alaskabar.org. Computer proficiency (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry).
Highly Desired: A demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of veterans and low-income individuals; and a background working in cross-cultural situations.
Salary $64,785-$+7,177 DOE. Generous benefits and leave package provided, including partial reimbursement of relocation expenses. Personal leave begins at six weeks per year for a full-time employee. ALSC observes 15 paid holidays.
