A note from the hiring team
We are not hiring a spreadsheet operator.
We are hiring a Strategic Finance leader who can help us make better decisions, faster.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, GTM, product, and operations. You will work on the real questions that drive company performance: where to invest, what is working, what is not, what trade-offs are worth making, and how to turn messy data into a clear decision.
If you want a role that is mostly budget vs. actuals, monthly reporting, and explaining the past, this is not it.
If you want to help shape how a scaling SaaS company allocates resources and grows intelligently, keep reading.
The mission
Help AfterShip make smarter growth decisions.
You will partner with leaders across Sales, Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success, Product, and Operations to frame decisions, model scenarios, pressure-test assumptions, and push the business toward better outcomes. Your job is not just to build models - it is to make them useful.
What success looks like
You are doing well in this role if:
Business leaders seek Finance input before making major GTM or product decisions
Your work changes decisions, not just informs them
Pricing, hiring, funnel investment, retention, and expansion conversations become sharper because you clarified the trade-offs
We have a stronger understanding of ARR, churn, retention, ARPU, CAC efficiency, and payback
Finance is known for judgment and commercial thinking, not just controls
Cross-functional partners trust you as a business partner, not a blocker
What you will own
Decision support for growth bets: Evaluate where we should invest — and where we should not — across pricing, GTM expansion, headcount, retention, and product or operational initiatives. Turn ambiguous questions into clear, decision-ready recommendations by outlining options, assumptions, risks, upside, and a strong point of view.
Scenario modeling that drives decisions: Build and own models across revenue, funnel performance, retention, ARPU, cohort behavior, and investment efficiency. Your work should be simple enough to use, rigorous enough to trust, and fast enough to inform real decisions.
Performance analysis across GTM: Partner with North America leaders and global teams to understand what is truly driving performance across churn, retention, expansion, funnel efficiency, and GTM productivity. Separate signal from noise and focus the business on what actually matters.
Cross-functional strategic projects: Contribute to high-impact initiatives such as GTM compensation design, annual planning, territory and investment planning, pricing changes, operational efficiency efforts, and ad hoc leadership questions that require fast, structured thinking.
Global finance partnership: Work across North America, Asia, and Europe to ensure analysis is consistent, actionable, and decision-ready. Partner closely with FP&A, data, and business teams — with a focus on creating clarity, not process for its own sake.
Who you are
Business-first thinker: You start with the problem, not the spreadsheet
Strong decision framer: You turn ambiguity into clear options and trade-offs
Comfortable with uncertainty: You can make recommendations with ~60–70% of the data
Hands-on and analytical: You can build models and dive deep when needed
Trusted challenger: You push back constructively and maintain credibility
Clear communicator: You explain complex ideas simply and directly
What we are looking for
6 - 10 years of experience across investment banking, private equity, consulting, strategic finance, FP&A, or strategy & operations
Experience partnering with GTM, Product, and Data teams
Strong Excel / Sheets modeling skills; ability to build from scratch
Working SQL and familiarity with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, etc.)
Strong understanding of SaaS metrics and growth drivers
Sound judgment, commercial instinct, and strong communication skills
Comfortable working across global teams and time zones
Mandarin is a real plus, especially given the cross-border operating model, but it is not the core reason someone will succeed here.
This role is not for you if
You prefer working with perfect data before making recommendations
You’re more energized by reporting than influencing business decisions
You’re most comfortable in structured roles with clearly defined scope
You prefer not to challenge assumptions or push on strategic trade-offs
You tend to overcomplicate simple questions
