Primary Purpose of the Job:
To provide professional engineering design detail services to Stantec’s global regional office to help them minimize risks and maximize profits for Consultancy contracts.
In order to ensure the above requirements, the individual must produce conceptual and detailed drawings, reinforcement and steelwork drawings as well as the associated schedules while complying with health and safety requirements, designs specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.
Key Accountabilities:
• The Structural Detailer shall be responsible for delivery of contract drawings and associated documentation.
• Produce reinforced concrete and steelwork arrangement drawings which are clear, accurate, cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned safely and effectively.
• Consider environmental issues in all design activities.
• Comply with standard practices and details wherever possible.
• Ensure that previous similar solutions are adapted and utilized wherever possible.
• Immediately report design problems or deficiencies to supervisor and project manager.
• Maintain competitiveness by ensuring drawings are produced within the time durations indicated
• Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department
• Coordinate drawing production with all other project disciplines both internal and external to STANTEC.
• Ensure drawing review procedures are followed.
• Maintain drawing files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
Person Specifications:
• Relevant BE/diploma/ITI in Civil engineering.
• Experience of USA/ BS / Eurocode/ Australian detailing practices will be preferred
• Minimum experience of 4-8 years in reinforced concrete and steelwork detailing in buildings projects
• Understand the principles of engineering drawing conception and development
• Understand the company’s drawing and design development procedures.
• Competent with 3D modelling and 2D drawings using REVIT structural, AutoCAD. CADSRC, Navisworks, MicroStation/ Open Building is a plus.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to rationalize drawings
• Knowledge of the general drawing requirements of a construction team
• Ability to communicate technical proposals clearly and to understand direction by others.
