Position: SSRT
Description: Student Services Support Teacher
Location: GW. Carlson Elementary
Status: Full Time Term Appointment (1.0 FTE)
Commencement Date: ASAP to October 30,2025 or upon return of incumbent with June 19, 2026, being the latest possible end date
The successful applicant should have completed or be taking courses in Special Education. They must have the ability to attend frequent meetings outside of school times, organize and submit all paperwork on schedule to meet important timelines. SSRT Teachers receive the same Instructional Release time as classroom teachers so paperwork will be required to be completed outside of instructional time.
This position provides direct and indirect service and programs to identified students with a variety of needs in consultation with District staff, parents, classroom teachers and appropriate professional and support staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Case manager for identified students including Individual Education Plans (IEP)and Learning Support Plans (LSP); providing a daybook of activities based on IEP goals for the Educational or Personal Attendant to follow and record progress on; providing direct service to students below grade level or designated special needs such as Leveled Literacy Intervention; collaborating with teachers on effective strategies and differentiated lessons and units; conducting standardized achievement testing and diagnostic assessments; implementing and delivering programs to identified students as needed; familiarity with District programs is an asset.
Qualifications:
Successful Elementary classroom teaching experience.
Knowledge of and willingness to use, current best practices in education.
Familiarity with BC Curriculum .
Strong student advocacy skills
A desire to work with both high and low incident IEP students
A strong team orientation.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
A desire to grow professionally.
Clear Criminal Record Check.
