Job Description And Duties
Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for substitute Instructor positions in the Career & College Preparation (CCP) program. The appointments will commence September 3, 2024 and end April 25, 2025 on an on-call basis, as required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale (range: $37.55 - $55.31 per hour).

Duties: Provide back-up relief in the absence of regular instructors. Duties include facilitating learning for students in the CCP program in the subject areas of Math, Sciences, English, Work Experience, and Education and Career Planning. This includes teaching and guiding students as well as completing the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities. The program is offered in various formats, including instructor-led with distance or online options which may require the use of distance technology for instruction.
Note: Although courses will be delivered via distributed learning, the instructor(s) must be based at one of our campuses.

Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in a directly related discipline
• A Provincial Teaching Certificate or a Provincial Instructor's Diploma
• A Master’s Degree in a related discipline or in Adult Education is preferred
• Teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education / Career and College Prep program
• Experience teaching in a distributed learning format
• Demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor students
• Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
• Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the local Indigenous communities
• An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and expertise in the subject areas. Experience should demonstrate exceptional group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills as a team member and learner-centered educator.
