Position Title: Summer Art Camp Director (Term Position)
Department: Indigenous Ways & Partnerships
Reports to: Indigenous Education Coordinator
Classification: Term
Location: On-site, Winnipeg, MB
Salary: $24 per hour (35 hours/week)
Term: June 11 to August 31, 2025
Hours of Work: Full time during the term
Position Summary
The Summer Art Camp Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of WAG‑Qaumajuq’s Summer Art Camps. Reporting to the Indigenous Education Coordinator, this role oversees logistics, program design, scheduling, and day‑to‑day operations of each two‑week themed camp session. Due to the central role of Indigenous content and programming, Indigenous applicants will be given preference and are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be available every weekday throughout the entire camp period.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinating logistics for all summer camp sessions.
Designing and scheduling age‑appropriate arts education programming for each two‑week themed camp.
Collaborating with staff to deliver art activities aligned with camp themes.
Managing program budgets, supplies, and weekly schedules.
Training, supervising, and scheduling camp staff and volunteers.
Providing leadership to volunteers and camp counsellors.
Supporting camp artists and counsellors in facilitating activities.
Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children.
Completing the annual end‑of‑program evaluation.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Required:
Experience coordinating programs and working with children.
Clean criminal record and child abuse registry check (can be processed through WAG‑Qaumajuq).
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to follow schedules and maintain time management expectations.
Demonstrated ability to complete complex projects successfully.
Reliable, organized, and a good listener.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Assets:
CPR/First Aid certification.
Experience and passion for the visual arts.
Knowledge of French.
Additional Information
Must be able to move tables and chairs as needed.
Must be able to set up and clean up studio spaces.
