Job Description
Are you ready to be part of a crew that delivers epic experiences with our mountains and our people? We're looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Hostel Assistants to join our team at Brownston Hostel in Wanaka for the upcoming summer season.
As a Hostel Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our guest experience - providing warm welcomes, managing bookings, and keeping our hostel clean, safe, and running smoothly. This is a live-in position, with on-call responsibilities 3-5 nights per week, and you'll play a key role in maintaining a secure and supportive environment for guests and staff.
Please note: these are live-in only positions, and applicants must have the current right to work in New Zealand. Priority will be given to those available for the full summer season.
Your day-to-day will include:
Front desk reception: check-ins, check-outs, guest enquiries, and payments.
Managing online and direct bookings, including room allocations.
Providing local information and booking summer experiences.
Housekeeping duties: cleaning rooms and communal areas.
Fire warden responsibilities and overnight safety support.
Reporting maintenance issues and assisting with stock ordering.
What You'll Bring
Hostel customer service and/or reception experience.
Housekeeping experience.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
A team player with initiative and a positive attitude.
Preferred: First aid/fire warden training, experience working unsupervised or in small teams.
