Job Description
Summer student positions which may become available are focused in our service areas. All positions are Temporary, therefore you are not guaranteed any minimum number of hours per week, but can work up to full time hours. You may be provided a schedule, but there are many on-call shifts at the last minute in addition to any scheduled shifts. As we are a 24/7 facility, shift times cover weekends, statutory holidays, evenings, and overnights. Positions may be located at University Hospital and Victoria Hospital. Flexibility to work at any or all sites is required as departmental needs may vary.
Dietary Worker
The Dietary Worker is responsible for preparing selected food items, cleaning assigned areas and equipment and providing prompt and efficient customer focused service. The Dietary Worker is also responsible for the accurate receipt and proper storage of Food Services goods, transportation of food, dishes and small equipment, as well as washing items used in the preparation and service of food.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care

Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Additional Requirements
Must have successfully completed a grade 12 education or equivalent
Successful completion of Food Handler Certificate (within last 5 years)
Must be attending full-time education in September 2026
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to work from the beginning of May until the end of August
Must be available to work 24/7
