Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring exceptional food safety and handling practices. Your creativity and attention to detail will contribute to an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, adhering to health and safety standards.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi recipes or variations.
Work directly with Executive Sushi Chef.
Skills
Proven experience in a restaurant setting, specifically in meal preparation and food service.
Strong knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety regulations within the food industry.
Excellent knife skills and proficiency in cutting fish and vegetables for sashimi, sushi, and rolls.
Excellent fish & rice preparation: Expertise in selecting, filleting, and handling fresh seafood and mastery in cooking and seasoning sushi rice to perfection.
Attention to detail with an artistic presentation of sushi with balance and aesthetics and innovative in crafting unique rolls and plating styles.
Polite, engaging communication, especially in an open kitchen setting.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
Experience with Omakase is preferred.
