Parkwest Bicycle Casino is seeking Sushi Prep Cook/Helper who is assisting the Sushi Chef in basic food preparation and keeping utensils and work areas (including countertops) clean.
Responsibilities:
Assist the kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping, peeling, and slicing ingredients.
Demonstrate proficient knife skills to ensure efficient and accurate food preparation.
Measure and portion ingredients according to specific recipes or instructions.
Follow food safety guidelines while handling and storing ingredients.
Support the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and well-organized work environment.
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, including countertops, sinks, and equipment.
Sweep and mop floors to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Empty trash bins regularly and replace liners as needed.
Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when replenishment is required.
Assist in routine equipment maintenance and report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
Sort and stack cleaned items appropriately for storage.
Follow established procedures for handling and disposing of waste and recyclables.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing and storage areas.
Communicate effectively with others, reports incidents, hazards and problems to leads, supervisors, and/or managers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/ GED preferred.
Previous experience as a Food Prep in a Sushi restaurant of at least 2 years highly preferred.
Basic knowledge of cutting fish and rolling sushi.
Bilingual a plus.
This position requires active CALIFORNIA FOOD HANDLERS Certification and/or Card.
Open availability to work any given shift.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment employee permit, badge or license.
Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test, criminal background and credit check.
