Job Description
We are looking for an experienced SysOps Administrator to help us with our growing and expanding business demands.
Essential Duties and Role Responsibilities:
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Develop and enhance best-practices related to security.
• Provide guidance and best practices for using the AWS platform.
• Provide systems administration support services required to deliver and maintain internal technical operations environment for software development and delivery of support services.
• Provide systems support services required for hosted environments delivering Platform as a Service to subscribed customers.
• Provide systems support services to self-hosted customers.
• Perform research, design, configure and implement new and existing system tools required to provide operational stability and promote business continuity.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose computing environment issues required to support applications and technical infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in both remote and onsite scenarios
• Perform necessary tests and evaluation of operating environment following quality assurance procedures.
• Document, train and communicate technical systems administration concerns.
• Perform root cause analysis and report findings.
• Working closely with other developers, UX designers, business analysts and management to provide the technical environment required to develop and deploy operations and software offerings.
• Provide urgent after-hours support as needed and coordinate with your department members.
• Provide support related to the deployment and on-going maintenance of Amazon Web Services, Linux and Windows Servers, Windows Desktops, VPN/networking, Data Archival and restoration, and other business operations and continuity concerns.
• Follow MCSI procedures related to the use of MCSI’s Support System (Visova Service Center) as the central location for project management, assigned tasks and time posting.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
• Professional usage and understanding of Linux.
• A minimum of two year's AWS experience.
• Well versed in systems administration topics including operating systems, networking and computing resources.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Ability to learn MCSI’s technical infrastructure, adopt our development tools and follow our development practices.
• Ability to create Systems Administration documentation and assist with the development of end user documentation as required.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or IT preferred; directly related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Subject to the positive outcome of a Background evaluation and Drug Testing.
Candidate Requirements:
• Permanent US citizen that resides in the continental US.
• Due to federal regulation and contractual agreements, we are required to perform a background check (performed at our expense).
• Must be able to commit to a schedule of 8 hours per day M-F, between the hours of 6am-6pm MST.
• Must be able to provide a quiet and professional home office environment with fast and stable internet.
• Comfortable working in a distributed and small virtual team environment.
Schedule and Work Place:
• MCSI is a virtual office and we support customers in all continental US time zones.
• MCSI is a boutique organization that consists of software developers, business analysts, and software application experts. You will be joining our expanding team and working with all departments.
• MCSI will provide all equipment and software required for your duties.
• MCSI will reimburse you for reasonable home office expenses including internet service and cell phone.
• You will work from your Home Office and we prefer that your office hours be 8-6pm M-F EST with a flexible lunch hour. There is flexibility for planned changes in your schedule to accommodate your needs.
• Travel is typically not a requirement of this position. Special circumstance such as training, on-site client meeting, or team event may occur.
• You will post your daily time data to the specific project and work-products for which you are assigned.
• You will be subject to MCSI’s telecommuter policies.
